Organic Family Winery Gozo - Tour & Wine-Tasting
Don't leave Gozo without trying some delicious Gozitan wines, made from the different types of grapes grown on this beautiful sunny island. On your visit to this boutique winery in the medieval village of Gharb you will learn about the characteristics of the various wines they produce whilst also tasting a few of these and trying the local Gozitan delicacies that accompany them.
Your hosts for this tour are the winery’s owners and winemakers who are passionate about their wines and vineyard and committed to wine-making without the use of herbicides and with only organic fertilisers. They will take you behind the scenes and give you a first-hand account of the wine-making process. On your tour you will learn about the type of viticulture that is used to obtain the highest quality grapes in the area, with most of the work being done by hand, the characteristics of the unique terroir, the various aspects of wine making particular to the region and how one should taste wine to understand and enjoy it better.
The wine-tasting session is informative and lots of fun. You will taste four different types of wines while your host explains the stories and history behind the labels and what makes this boutique winery so special.
The wines are also accompanied by some authentic Gozitan finger foods, namely local bread with sundried tomato paste, Gozo's cold pressed olive oil, olives, Gozo peppered cheeselets and galletti (traditional water biscuits). Drinking water is also served. (Wines are subject to stock availability).
If you are interested in purchasing any wine, the tour can also be extended to the unique underground winery in Xaghra, just 15 minutes away by car.
